TASTY BEEF RECIPE DISHES

SAVORY MINCE RECIPE

30 g (1 oz.) butter

1 onion

750 g (1½ lb.) minced steak

Salt, pepper

1/2 teaspoon mixed herbs

2 tablespoons plain flour

1-cup water

1 beef stock cube

3 tablespoons tomato sauce

2 tablespoons chopped parsley

Heat the butter in a wide, shallow pan; add peeled and chopped onion, minced steak, salt, pepper and mixed herbs.

Stir constantly over a medium heat until meat is well browned. Pour off any surplus fat.

Add the flour and stir for 3 minutes. Gradually add water, add crumbled stock cube and tomato sauce and stir until mixture boils and thickens.

Reduce the heat and simmer un-covered for 10 to 15 minutes.

Stir in half of parsley and just before serving; sprinkle the remainder of the parsley over the top of the meat.

Serve with rice or mashed potatoes or spoon onto hot, buttered toast.

Serves 4.
